+ Resume

To be considered for approval as an Allens Training Pty Ltd Trainer, we require all trainers to demonstrate they have an appropriate background for the subject areas they intend to deliver training. One of the methods we use to identify this background is by reviewing a trainer’s resume to confirm previous job roles which may be relevant. It is important when providing your resume to include a description of the tasks performed as part of any role that may relate to your area of training. The more detail provided will aid in the quick assessment of your trainer application. Some other items that should be included on the resume:

  • Information on any relevant education/courses undertaken (even if not completed)
  • Volunteer work
  • Industry membership, past and present
  • Awards and acknowledgements received

+ Government issued photo identification that matches the name on your USI

In order to confirm the identify of a new trainer we require a government issued photo ID that matches the name linked to the USI Transcript. This can be a Driver’s Licence or any other form of ID with a photograph. This does not need to be certified but must be of sufficient quality for Allens Training Pty Ltd to see the photo clearly.

+ Authorisation for Allens Training Pty Ltd to view USI Transcript

Allens Training Pty Ltd requires all trainers to provide access to their USI Transcript upon commencement with Allens Training Pty Ltd. Instruction for authorisation

It is the policy of Allens Training Pty Ltd that all trainers hold a current working with children’s check (or State equivalent). This must not be the volunteer version and must be the appropriate version for paid employment. If you do not have a working with children’s check at the time of your application, we will accept evidence of a lodged application but must receive a copy of the issued card within thirty (30) days of your application being approved.

If providing a written reference, the letter should include an outline of the relationship between the trainer and the referee and in what capacity they are supporting the application.

+ Evidence of your Industry Experience and Skills

Training and assessment should only be provided by those who have current industry skills and knowledge. Training and assessment is best provided by those who can undertake—to an industry-standard level—all of the tasks defined in the elements of units of competency and modules. To confirm trainers and assessors have current industry skills and all training and assessment is delivered by people who are themselves competent practitioners, Allens Training Pty Ltd are required to ensure that trainers and assessors are regularly exposed to industry workplaces and participate in workplace tasks. Trainers and assessors need to show how they have maintained, upgraded or developed new skills relevant to current industry needs. Evidence showing trainers’ and assessors’ industry skills can take many forms. Currency in skills will depend on the industry area. Some examples of how trainers and assessors can demonstrate current industry skills include:

  • Volunteering or working part-time in the industry area
  • Undertaking accredited training relevant to the industry area
  • Belonging to industry associations
  • Attending workshops, events or expos in the vocational industry area
  • Engaging with industry (for example, through discussions with employers or attending industry networking events)
  • Reading industry journals and subscriptions
  • Staying informed about changes to technology
  • Keeping up to date with changes to legislation

Delivering training and assessment in a workplace does not constitute the development of current industry skills. However, attending a workplace to experience the latest techniques, processes and resources could contribute to the demonstration of current industry skills.
As a trainer for Allens Training Pty Ltd you are required to provide a statement for each category of course type outlining how you have developed and maintained current industry knowledge. If referencing a specific job role you have performed, you should include a description of relevant duties performed as part of that role and the time period you have performed the role.

+ Evidence of any professional registration (if applicable)

If you have any relevant professional registration this should be included in your application. A copy of the relevant registration documents should be included in evidence uploaded.

+ Trainer Authorisation for third party verification of qualifications

As a registered training organisation, Allens Training Pty Ltd is required to verify nationally recognised certificates provided by you as evidence of your current qualifications to deliver courses on behalf of Allens Training. This will require a signed and dated authorisation from you so we can verify these documents with the third party training providers who have issued the nationally recognised qualifications.
